|2nd 1977 The Jam commence their now famous 5 week residency at the Red Cow in Hammersmith.
5th 1968 Paul Buckler has his last piano lesson, calls it a day and takes up the drums instead, much to his parents alarm.
8th 1976 Rick Buckler & John Weller are involved in a horrific car accident whilst out postering their gigs. Buckler breaks his ankle, but plays a gig in a plaster cast the following week.
10th 1973 The newly formed band takes over the school music room at lunchtimes, and create the 'Lunchtime Jam'. Which is where the name developed from. Not, as some will say, from Paul's sister.
11th 1982 The band take off on their European Trans Global Express tour, playing to sell out arena's everywhere
12th 1982 The Gift becomes the first Jam album to reach Number 1 in the charts, and stays in the charts for 6 months
14th 1978 The band start their ill fated American tour supporting Blue Oyster Cult. The 20,000+ audiences weren't ready for The Jam in 1978.
14th 1980 Going Underground / Dreams of Children is released and becomes the bands first Number.
17th 1979 Strange Town / Butterfly Collector is released and The Jam are starting to win over new fans all over Britain.
23rd 1992 Dreams of Children is released on CD, with live versions of Away from the Numbers and Modern World on the 'flip' side.
